Rethinking Rural Housing: Affordable Homes in Goonhavern, Cornwall

StudioARC is proud to have partnered with Coastline Housing and Classic Builders to deliver 36 thoughtfully designed new homes in the village of Goonhavern, Cornwall. Completed and handed over in August 2024, the development includes 26 homes for social rent and 10 for shared ownership—contributing to the growing need for high-quality, affordable housing in the region.

Breaking away from conventional street layouts, our masterplan introduces a series of interlinked residential squares. This design promotes a stronger sense of community, encourages social interaction, and creates a more human-scaled environment that sits comfortably within the rural setting.

The result is a development that not only meets the functional and economic needs of residents but also reflects our commitment to placemaking, sustainability, and design-led solutions in affordable housing.
