StudioARC Wins Prestigious Award for Storm Tower Restoration

On Thursday, 17th July, the team responsible for the remarkable restoration of the Storm Tower in Bude was honoured with the Jenny Gason Award, presented by the Cornish Buildings Group.

The Jenny Gason Award celebrates excellence in the restoration of smaller historic buildings and structures across Cornwall. It recognises outstanding attention to historic detailing and traditional craftsmanship — qualities that were exemplified throughout the Storm Tower project.

The project team in attendance at the award presentation included:

• Dr Patrick Newberry, Chair, Cornish Buildings Group

• John Duncan, StudioARC

• Francesca Churchill-Zerilli, Project Manager (formerly of Bude-Stratton Town Council)

• Trevor Humphries, Capital Project Manager & Quantity Surveyor, Trevor Humphreys Associates

• Ian Saltern, Deputy Town Clerk, Bude-Stratton Town Council

• Cllr Peter La Broy, Cornwall Council and Bude-Stratton Town Council

The judging panel praised the restoration as a “tremendous rescue of an extremely important part of Cornwall’s built environment,” and described the renewed Storm Tower as “rising again in all its glory.”
