Planning approval has been granted for a single storey extension to a character cottage in Newquay.

The existing cottage is steeped in character and is petite in scale, with room proportions, ceiling heights, stairs and window/ door openings miniature in size. The brief from the owner was to maintain and restore as much of the existing cottage as possible, and to design a small, single storey extension to the rear of the cottage (on the footprint of a dilapidated potting shed) to accommodate an open plan kitchen/ living area, leading out directly to the garden. The proposed design is primarily of high quality timber crafted construction (based upon the potting shed theme) and is simple in form, displaying local rustic materials which will weather and blend with its context over time.
