Port Isaac - Replacement Dwelling

StudioARC was commissioned to replace a tired, single-storey bungalow in Cornwall with a striking, light-filled contemporary home. The brief focused on creating a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, with natural light and outdoor access central to the design.

The new layout was carefully planned to maximise daylight and frame key views across the North Coast. Generous glazing and open-plan living spaces help to merge indoor and outdoor areas, enhancing the sense of space and flow.

Externally, the design draws inspiration from traditional Cornish cottages, particularly those found in nearby Port Isaac. A refined palette of a light brick and white vertical timber cladding gives the home a clean, modern look while echoing the region’s architectural heritage.
